VOCAL COACH JESSICA COLLAÇO

Los Angeles is full of talented coaches and teachers.

What sets me apart is my diverse experience as a professional musical theatre performer, musician, songwriter, show choir champion, choral arranger and parent.

My B.F.A. in Musical Theatre from Webster Conservatory of Fine Arts informs the way I approach music.

I combine technique and thorough analysis of the music to help musicians create a very specific performance that communicates emotion and intention.

My professional experience working at such places as The North Carolina Theatre, Repertory Theatre of Saint Louis, Radio City Christmas Show, and Disney's Groove 66 with Deke Sharon help me prepare students who are auditioning for professional opportunities or B.F.A. auditions.

Having been part of a National Championship Show Choir helps me teach how to sight read quickly and different tricks to use when learning complex harmonies. I use my piano and violin background to enrich my sessions

with physical and visual connections to master ear training.

My songwriting and session singing create versatility in my students, who explore everything from classical to pop to country to jazz.  And parenting has enhanced the way I teach; I'm encouraging with a gentle,

positive approach that still honors the discipline that is required of complex learning.

My education and professional background create a toolbox that include vocal endurance, optimum breathing, proper placement, ear training, improvisation, sight reading, range expansion and performance.

I look forward to sharing it with you!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IF I HAVE TO MISS A CLASS OR PRIVATE LESSON?

Classes-Our choirs are like singing teams. Each and every member is part of one voice, so attendance is important. Please email or call if you must miss a class for illness or travel. If you know you will be on vacation before a session begins, you may pay the drop-in rate for classes you will attend during that session. We do not offer refunds or apply funds to future sessions.

Private Lessons-Lessons must be canceled within 24 hours of your scheduled time. Lessons missed without 24-hours notice will be charged. Students who miss multiple lessons without notification may be asked to pre-pay for future lessons.

WHAT IF I'M RUNNING LATE?

Time management is a very important aspect of the performance industry. Our studio policies will help students learn this essential skill.

Classes-Please plan to arrive for class 5 to 10 minutes before we start. If you arrive late, please enter the studio quietly. If a soloist is presenting a song, please wait until they complete the song to enter the studio.

Private Lessons-Please call if you are running late and leave a voicemail or text message with your estimated arrival time. Out of respect for the next student, we will still end your lesson on time and you will be charged for your complete session even if you arrive late.

IS MY CHILD TOO YOUNG TO SING?

It's never too early to expose your child to the benefits of music. Private lessons are offered to children ages 8 and up. Early exposure to proper technique, a variety of music genres, rhythms and creative expression lay the foundation for future music skills and appreciation.

DO YOU TAKE HOMESCHOOLING FUNDS?
